Location: Southwold and Reydon
In 1999, twelve Church of England parishes in this beautiful part of north-east Suffolk decided to work together as the Sole Bay Team Ministry. Our historic churches range from the large and splendid, as at Blythburgh and Southwold, to those that are smaller and more intimate, as at Sotherton, and South Cove (used in the film “Iris”). Some date back to the earliest years of Christianity in this land and others were built in medieval times; they each have special treasures of their own. At Blythburgh, Reydon and Uggeshall there are interesting examples of contemporary Christian art commissioned for the new Millennium.
These churches have been places of prayer for many centuries and we hope you will experience something of that prayerfulness and peace, as you visit them and enjoy their beauty – most are open during daylight hours. They all continue to be used regularly for worship and play an important role in their local cominunities. A strength of the Team Ministry is that our priests come from very
different traditions in the Church of England and yet we all work and pray daily together, thus strengthening the ministry of the Church here. Our Mission Statement is: “Rejoicing in diversity we seek to grow in faith and enable others to grow into faith by worshipping God and serving him in our neighbour”.
